LifeCycle Events & Services
These aren’t just our milestones, they are where our minds go when someone says, “I remember that day so well.” Marked by joy, marked by pain, relief, regret or a sense of being repatriated or even reborn, I call these lifecycle or life events, because they are the biggies. My job throughout each of these events is to be present and mindful, but most certainly to ply my skills as a Rabbi, and provide perspective, to listen without judgement, to inspire and amplify the good stuff and to be an advocate.
weddings
For the past two decades, I have been acting as Rabbi, Officiant, and Celebrant at the weddings of people from all sorts of backgrounds and faiths. While I am of the Jewish faith, that has not kept me from performing ceremonies, helping writes vows, and generally celebrating the joining of couples who found me as strangers and became friends. I love my work as a Rabbi, but let’s face it, weddings are pretty great.
funerals
They are deeply personal and certainly life-altering, but funerals can also be incredibly life-affirming. I work with the families and those closest to the deceased to make sure that needs and wishes across the board are met. The service itself is important so I take great pains to understand expectations and desires for honoring them.
+ Who was this person?
+ What did he or she mean to their nearest and dearest?
+ What did he or she give to their community and world that was singular?
+ What should be remembered and celebrated?
And I also listen closely to those still here.
+ Is there an unmet need?
+ Are the resources I can provide or recommend?
+ What do I need to be listening for and who do I need to be listening to?
There are fewer changes in life that impact a person or a family like a death. I’m here to help you through it.
