It’s a matter of semantics. And the words in our prayers? And region? And key outerwear? Religion 101 is not my thing, but here are my observations.
Prayer, meditation, running in the woods, screaming into a trash can (that last one doesn’t count) are all ways to find a minute a peace. There are apps. Here’s what I do.
We have limited resources - time, money, skills, networks - and a million ways to give. How do we reach out in the late 20-teens when need is around every corner.
So few people know what Dignity Therapy is, which makes it pretty hard to take advantage of it. And I hope more people will. I’m trained, so lemme share a bit.
I don’t have any handy bromides about where we are culturally and how we deal with grief. The truth is we need help with it. Cancer is not new, church shootings, racism, gun violence, poverty and the changes we face in life - they take their toll.
Getting married? Don’t let me talk you out of it. My only advice is to understand that it is more than an institution or cultural convention.
